Field Trip Overview

Our Minor Field Trip and Seminar is a preparation for our field trip and seminar and that we could also know the place or any institutions that could help improve our experience in the real world of IT. We know that there is only few IT company that was based in Davao City due to fact that the IT workforce in Davao is not that large enough that fill in their company to work for them. But still the local government of Davao has an initiative to apply the modern technology advancement for the traffic management, crime prevention, and disaster prevention with the use of modern tool and gadgets for the faster response of the emergency team.

Minor Field Trip

Our minor field trip only lasts on one day of seminar in Public Safety Command Center (PSCC) in Sandawa, Davao City. The Public Safety Command Center has also a 911 office branch in their left side of the building so that they can respond quickly if there is any problem occurred in any area of Davao City. Their location is also fit for the quick response team if any emergency occurred and they respond in any parts of Davao City especially a fire break out in slump areas. They tour us around their building and they show their CCTV monitoring room. They have huge LCD TV for the monitoring purposes in the vital roads of Davao City. They discussed about the installation of CCTV cameras in every busy road in Davao, the monitoring techniques they used to prevent any heavy traffic loads in the area, and many more. They also used the CCTV cameras for crime prevention especially in the area in Boulevard where there are lots of Gang members who are always engaged in riot every night on the past few years but in the present time, it lessen their activities for the reason that the police officials will respond quickly of the PSCC personnel contact them that there are a large group of minors in that area and the police officer go directly in that place. The CCTV cameras in Davao City are also a tool for disaster prevention and monitoring of flood in danger zone. This was proven in the flash flood disaster happened in Matina Crossing last year, and the Davao City mayor was in the PSCC monitoring room while it was happening so that she could give decisions and monitor the real situations happened in that area. They show to us the real time accidents happened in the accident prone area in Davao City that was caught in the act by the CCTV camera the real gruesome scenario of the an accidents, especially people hit by a large vehicle.

Recommendation

My recommendation for those who take Field Trip and Seminars next year or on the future years is that they must be responsible for any actions and decisions they must take. They must choose a good leader that can understand every member in the class, not just their own class because the students enrolled in the Field Trip and Seminars has different schedules in the other subjects. The leader you must choose knows how to listen in their sovereignty because some leaders don’t want to listen on the opinions of others. You must choose a leader who has a firm decision and don’t make any big changes on the critical times.
